WHAT IS SODALITE?

First discovered in Greenland in 1911, this durable, mineral stone is popularly found in a royal blue shade, exhibiting veins or patches of white; however, it appears in many other colors. Its high sodium content leads to the name sodalite and can be classified as a feldspathoid, closely associated with lazurite.

• Did you know? The Caral culture (3000 – 1800 B.C.), considered the oldest city in the Americas (Peru), commonly traded sodalite. Today, you can find this stone prevalent in Canada (Ontario and British Colombia) and Namibia.
